Careful consideration and maintenance of the merits of an existing mid-century modern home including a simple and strong roof form characteristic of the period, maximization of large ocean facing openings, and clarity and economy of plan directed this simple restoration/renovation of a 3,100 sqft residence overlooking Topanga Canyon and the sea.

The juxtaposition of very clean finishes and detailing against elements of the restored existing shell give evidence of the home’s history and integrity while including the luxuries and aesthetic of an ultra modern home.  An expanded contemporary kitchen, clerestoried study/office, new bonus/media room, and a reinterpreted master suite were areas studied in this relationship merging the history and future of the home.
